Maybe Not Today...: With my old band Rivet City, we had a habit of naming songs after Simpsons' quotes. Followed the trend for this intro, but this time it has at least some relevance. Guest vocals by Emily Murchie.
Skin & Bone: I took my first trip overseas to Germany when I was 16, and my latest to the US when I was 21. This song is about both places.
lyrics
Maybe Not Today...
In the shadows blinding light
Touching down from a lonesome flight
Keep on searching lost my sight
In my dreams I'm awake tonight
I just expect to see you standing
Somewhere
Anywhere
Skin & Bone
Set a new precedent clambered out west
Made the choice to leave a heart once loved
Ripped apart a legacy
And took my pain overseas
Read an old President's final address
And I realised that our words resound
Never thought I'd get this low
But I would never let it show
Can't let it go
I remember landing knee deep in the snow
16 years so much I didn't know
And after all we've done do we even grow
Besides skin and bone?
Am I really home?
I caught the train drunk with a couple of friends
And ended up in Washington Square Park
Met a girl and left here there
Told her I'll be back I swear
But that's where these trips have been destined to end
My dreams are living seven seas apart
And I miss you still and no
I've never felt so alone
Can't let it go
I remember seeing your face through the snow
21 so much I didn't know
And after all we say do we even grow
Besides skin and bone?
Am I really home?
And will i know?
When I go
Will it still show?
Can't let it go
I remember writing these words in the snow
22 so much I still don't know
And after all we say and do we don't grow
Besides skin and bone
I'm not really home.
