I wrote all the lyrics to this in a night and the music the next morning. It stemmed from talking to someone about their opportunity to go on exchange, something exciting but really nerve wracking, and developed into something that I find pretty comforting. Does that make sense? No? Okay.
Author's Note: Taking inspiration from Chance the Rapper with the fall/trip duality. Check Genius.

lyrics
Make it work
Spill all your words, get some blood on your shirt
It's getting so cold in the Highlands again
Frost on the grounds and the ink in my pen
Its writings are sounding contrived
It's true
Would you believe that I'm messy too?
Not in a mumblecore kind of way
But more like the sky on a stormy day
It rains then it stops and it dries
Slow these thoughts down
We are only beginners
On a path unsure
But I think over winter we'll feel it more
Take the fall
But keep your words proud
We can moan and be bitter
When we're 84
But until the leaves wither on your heart's front porch
Take the fall
Best believe
At points you would seem like an Autumn leaf
Restless and gentle a sight to be seen
Destined for something beyond the sea
But cut me off there if I'm wrong
And now
There's friends of mine living on English grounds
Caution has flown and the wind is fast
Still remember when we sung here last
We'll drive back again before long
Slow these thoughts down
We are only beginners
On a path unsure
But I think over winter we'll feel it more
Take the fall
But keep your words proud
We can moan and be bitter
When we're 84
But until the leaves wither on your heart's front porch
Take the fall
And sail the passage north
Skin your knee on every hill you climb
And when we reach the shore
I'll be there to compare your scars with mine
